Job SummaryFollowing specific and general instructions, tool designs, drawings, standard practices and recognized methods, expertise in laying out metal and non-metal stock, setting up and operating machine toolsPerform milling, drilling, turning, grinding operations utilizing CNC or manual machineryMay work with engineering to resolve problems and develop new processes and/or procedures.
Job Responsibilities Lays out metal and non-metal stock, sets up and operate manual and/or CNC multi-axis machining centers and tools performing functions such as milling, drilling, grinding or turning operationsWorks directly with engineering to assist in the development of machine set-up programmingExperience and expertise in precision measuring equipment, gages and machinist hand tools to assure quality standards are maintainedUses advanced shop mathematics including trigonometry and geometry to determine and check angles, radii, hole locations, accessibility, missing dimensions, interrelated dimensions, etcDemonstrates knowledge of tooling cutters, speeds and feed rates as well as tooling techniques and philosophiesExperienced on machining of various metallic and composite materialsChecks all work to assure that quality standards are maintained and has adhered to all specifications and procedures involving internal and customer practicesAbility to read highly complex blueprints and meet inspection requirements in accordance with customer specifications.
Job QualificationsEDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:
High School diploma or GED, and 3-5 years direct and related experience with machine tool technology is requiredOne to two years of technical school or college training in machine tool technology is highly desired.
REQUIRED SKILL IN:
Requires knowledge of advanced math, blueprint reading, and computer numerical control (CNC) applicationMust be willing to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirementsThe ability to work as a team player as well as independently is requiredLICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
